Your Right To Write Checks
Tags: Stand Up for Your Right to Write Checks, write checks, writing checks back
Tired of being told and retold that their checks are not going to be accepted at restaurants and stores, Americans have now launched a drive to put the power of writing checks back in the hands of the ultimate consumer. The ‘Stand Up for Your Right to Write Checks‘ is the first step towards raising awareness and helping to preserve the mode of payment for those who actually rely on it on a daily basis be it a shop in the local surroundings or a neighborhood restaurant.
In a recent survey conducted, the Ipsos Survey, it was seen that around 3/4th of Americans from the sample were of the opinion that they should be given the freedom for paying at stores & restaurants in whatever mode of payment they wished to. Additionally, a few million consumers preferred the checks to be a reliable standby method to pay for their dues.
Despite this, retailers still refuse to accept this mode of payment and still hang notes on their windows saying ‘no checks’. The general belief is that cash and credit cards are safer modes to receive payments and ensure that the money is received while checks are associated with a huge probability of defaults. This, however, limits spending of those who want to carry out write checks.
This campaign is aimed at reaching out to consumers & business owners in various ways. These include a consumer microsite, social media, videos etc.
The consumer microsite righttowritechecks.com is essentially created to create awareness through its contents and also to create an online petition where forces can be united to enforce their right ti write checks.
A special comedy video series is designed produced by College Humor called ‘Duncan Steele, The Man with Checks Appeal’ tries to allure people to the idea of writing checks through a check writing hero.
On the social media front the campaign has launched pages on Facebook and Twitter to keep people updated with the fun element being in place.
In the months to come, the campaign seeks to launch promotional contests in your neighboring stores and restaurants. It also is looking at offering checks to those who have never been offered by creating linkages with banks.
I am really happy that someone is finally talking about checks. I am really frustrated with people not accepting checks whenever I go out and prefer to make payments through checks.
Either the government should announce it that no checks will be allowed or the people all over America should start accepting checks if someone is willing to pay through checks, if not then why are they for.
Good one my friend, the check thing is really annoying to people bcoz we still cant pay the money even if we have the option to pay thru checks. This is ridiculous and glad someone wrote about it.
